Speaking Under Fire
As 2012 comes to a close, let’s look back at one of the most memorable speeches of the year, Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s “misogyny speech:”
One of the many striking features of this speech is the way the Prime Minister never for a second loses her focus. How does she do it? One thing’s for sure – she is 100 percent clear on her core message – both in substance and conviction. As a result, no amount of distraction can get her off track.
From the Green Room: Do you want to be an unflappable speaker? Do you aspire to be able to speak clearly and compellingly, even under great pressure?
The most important thing you can do to get there is to know your core message. If you are absolutely solid on your bottom line – if you know exactly what you want to tell your audience – you can always maintain focus, despite any challenging distractions.
