Dracula and Status
Last week, I had a the pleasure of going to the ballet performance of Dracula at the Kennedy Center.
Jared Nelson, who danced the part of Dracula exuded majesty and power, despite his madness.
Nelson achieved this through stillness.
In contrast to the other dancers, Nelson’s movements were uncompromisingly minimalist and deliberate. The result? He raised his status miles about the other performers – and the audience could not help but be entranced by him.
From the Green Room: Stillness raises your status. If you want command respect, try moving as little as possible and keeping your head still. And when you do move, do it with purpose.
